Having your documents ready is the single easiest way to speed up car finance. Here's a checklist.
Everyone
- Driver licence (front and back)
- A second ID if asked, such as a passport or Medicare card
- Your current address and address history
- Recent bank statements, often shared electronically
- Details of existing debts: cards (limits), loans, BNPL
- Monthly living expenses
PAYG employees
- Two recent payslips
- Employer contact details
- Employment contract if you're new in the job
Self-employed
- ABN details
- Latest tax returns and notices of assessment, or BAS for low-doc
- Business bank statements
- An accountant's letter, if available
Visa holders
- Passport and visa grant notice
- A current VEVO check
For settlement
- A comprehensive insurance quote or certificate of currency
- Trade-in details and any payout letter if it's still under finance
