Who we help

  • Man-with-a-van operators: doing small moves, furniture pick-ups and marketplace deliveries
  • Removals businesses adding a truck: stepping up from a van to a pantech or tautliner
  • Interstate and regional movers: running longer distances and higher kilometres
  • Businesses with a small fleet: replacing an older truck or adding one for another crew
  • Newer ABNs: drivers who've worked for a removals company and are starting their own
  • Low doc applicants: with steady BAS or bank statements but no recent financials

Vans vs trucks

Most removalists start with a large van and move up to a light truck with a pantech body, tail lift or furniture pads as jobs get bigger. The jump changes the finance conversation:

Large van Light truck (pantech or tautliner)
Typical work Small moves, single items, deliveries Full household and office moves
Driver licence Usually a car licence Depends on GVM. Heavier trucks need a light rigid licence or higher.
What lenders focus on Your income and credit, plus the van's age and value Also your experience with trucks, and the body and tail lift
Used and private sales Commonly financed Often financed, though some lenders cap age and kilometres

Lenders may ask about the body, tail lift and kilometres on a used truck, so have those details ready. A clean service history helps.

How removalists usually structure it

  • Chattel mortgage: the business owns the van or truck. If you're GST-registered you may claim the GST credit upfront, and you can generally claim interest and depreciation for business use.
  • Finance lease: the lender owns the vehicle and lease payments are generally deductible.
  • Balloon or residual: lowers the regular repayment by deferring part of the principal to the end. You still pay interest on it, and you'll need to pay it out or refinance when the term ends.

Heavy-use vehicles depreciate with kilometres, so match the loan term and any balloon to how long you realistically expect to keep the vehicle.

Common questions

Can I finance a used truck from a private seller?

Often, yes. Many lenders finance private-sale trucks and vans, though some have limits on age and kilometres. The lender may want an inspection or valuation before settlement.

I've driven for a removals company for years but my ABN is new. Can I still apply?

Possibly. Some lenders consider newer ABNs where you have solid industry experience, sometimes with a deposit. A broker can tell you which lenders are open to it.

Can I finance a second truck while I'm still paying off the first?

Often, yes, if the business can comfortably service both. Lenders will look at your current repayments and how the extra vehicle adds income.

Does enquiring affect my credit score?

No. Filling in our enquiry form isn't a credit application. A credit check only happens if you choose to go ahead with an application through the broker.
